Fast Track and transfers at Medellín airport
Medellín's international airport is in Rionegro, about 45 minutes from the city. We handle Fast Track, meet and greet and private transfers for arrivals and departures.
About the airport
José María Córdova (MDE) is Medellín's international airport, located in Rionegro on a plateau east of the city at about 2,100 meters. It handles direct flights from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, New York, Atlanta, Houston, Madrid and most Latin American capitals. Domestic flights and some regional routes use the smaller Olaya Herrera airport inside the city instead.
Arrivals: what to expect
Immigration lines at MDE can take from 15 minutes to over an hour when several international flights land together, typically early afternoon and late evening. After customs you exit into the arrivals hall, where our driver waits with a sign with your name. The ride to El Poblado takes 45 to 60 minutes.
Transportation options
Official white taxis have a fixed fare to the city of roughly 100,000 COP (about $25 USD) and require Spanish and cash. Ride-hailing apps work in a gray area and pickups are unreliable. A shared bus goes to San Diego mall for about 20,000 COP but does not run at night. A private transfer with Medellín Hostess is a fixed $67 USD per vehicle, paid online, with flight tracking and 60 minutes of free waiting.
Departures
Arrive 3 hours before international flights. Check-in and security are quick outside peak hours; the drive up from El Poblado takes 45 to 60 minutes, longer in the evening rush. Book your transfer to the airport with your flight number and we set the pickup time.
Fast Track
The airport has temporarily suspended its Fast Track program. When it reopens, our host meets you at the gate and takes you through the priority lane; the service will be bookable again on this site.
