When do I need an interpreter in Medellín?

Whenever a mistake costs money or health: dental and medical consultations, surgery pre-ops and follow-ups, notary signings, lawyer meetings, real estate closings, bank appointments, immigration paperwork, supplier visits and business negotiations. English is common in hotels and restaurants in El Poblado; it is rare in clinics, notaries and government offices, which is exactly where the details matter.

What kind of interpreters do you provide?

Professional Spanish–English interpreters for consecutive interpretation, the format used in appointments and meetings. Medical and dental interpreters have experience with clinic vocabulary and consent forms; business interpreters are used to contracts and negotiations. Other languages, Portuguese, French, German and Italian among them, are available on request with more notice. All interpreters are vetted by Medellín Group and bound by confidentiality.

How is interpretation priced?

By the hour with a minimum block, or by the half day and full day for surgeries, closings and multi-meeting schedules. Send us the date, the place, the type of appointment and the expected length, and you receive a written proposal within 24 hours. Travel time inside the metro area is included; the interpreter can also come with your private driver so you arrive together.

Can the interpreter also help before and after the appointment?

Yes. Interpreters can call the clinic to confirm, translate documents you receive, and write a short summary of what was agreed. For medical trips, many clients combine an interpreter for the appointments with a personal host for the rest of the day.
